Episcopalian Reverend. Went to France with the YMCA in 1917. Commissioned in the Chaplain Corps, he was awarded the DSC while serving with the 23rd Infantry, 2nd Division, AEF, for heroism - "constantly exposed himself to the enemy fire, while giving first aid to the wounded and assisting in their evacuation". Assigned to 5th MG Bn, after the Armistice. National Chaplain of the American Legion in 1926.
