Death Takes W.B. Fonda
Movie Star's Father, a Native Omahan, Ill More than Year
W.B. Fonda, 56, who was born in Omaha and had lived here all his life, died Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Peacock. He was ill for more than a year.
Mr. Fonda had been connected with the United States Chamber of Commerce for the past three years. He was formerly a director of the Omaha Playhouse.
He was the father of Henry Fonda, the movie star. Surviving are another daughter, Mrs. John Schoentgen of Council Bluffs; a brother, T. Hilton Fonda, and two grandchildren. Mrs. Fonda died one year ago this week.
Henry Fonda left Omaha last Friday night, returning to Hollywood after a visit here, and will not be able to attend the funeral. He was scheduled to start a new picture in California Monday morning.
The body is at Burket's mortuary. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Forest Lawn chapel, and burial will be made in the family lot there.
