Capt. John Allen Kinley served during the Civil War in Company K, 8th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Cavalry. He was the son of William and Anne [Allen] Kinley of Oswego, Kendall county, Illinois. He married Sarah Medora Rogers on Dec. 17, 1863 in Downers Grove, DuPage county, Illinois. Together they had three children: Frank A. "Frankie" Kinley, Lorena May [Kinley] Lawrence, and Arthur Roy Kinley, Sr. Capt. Kinley was preceeded in death by his son, Frank A. "Frankie" Kinley, also buried in the KINLEY family plot at Springlake Cemetery in Aurora, Kane county, Illinois.
