2nd h/Mrs. Riley HAWK

Just as the storm was coming up at Osawkie Tuesday evening Wm. Arnold was struck and killed by lightning. He had been in the field near town plowing and had started for home when the bolt fell that doubtless instantly killed him. A railroad section man going out met the team walking in, with the owner's body lying partly in and partly out of the wagon-box. Will Arnold was a good-hearted, honest, industrious man, and may friends will be sorry to hear of his shocking death. The family have lived in Fairview Twp. for many years, but Will himself has resided in Osawkie most of the time since the Southwestern was built. A few months ago he was married to Mrs. Riley Hawk, and he leaves her and her three children by a former marriage, and one son by his first wife. The remains were brought to Oskaloosa Wednesday and buried at Pleasant View Cemetery, the Masonic and Workman lodges participating in the services.
