PFC James S. Benson died from wounds received during the 2nd Division's assault on Blanc Mont Ridge, France.
Obituary in the Daily Local News states that James Benson was laid to rest in Unionville Cemetery with full military honors, accorded by members of Bernhard Schlegel Post, on Tuesday, August 16, 1921. Survivors included 2 brothers and 2 sisters, including Robert Benson, of Wawa Dairy Farm. His father had died a number of years previously.
