Mo D/C lists POB Bolivar, Mo by the informant a daughter-in-law. 1875 Kansas Census shows oldest sister Clara born in Ohio after William's return from Civil War. Next sister Minnie born abt 1870 in Kansas. Laura's younger brother John born also in Kansas in 1875. Her mother Rebecca died and was buried in Wakarusa, Kansas in 1879.
The 1900, 1910, and 1920 US Federal Census shows Laura stating she was born in Kansas.

Laura Theresa Whisler, daughter of William and Rebeccah Whisler, was born March 12, 1872, at Bolivar Mo., and departed this life May 2, 1951, making her age at time of death 79 years and two months. She was united in marriage to William Ross Walker, February 2, 1890, and to this union 11 children were born, eight boys and three girls: Lucy, who passed away at the age of 7 years; Jess of Houston; Everett, who passed away at the age of six; Clayton of Kansas City, Kansas; Henry and Herbert, twin boys, Henry of Greeley, Colorado, who was unable to attend, Herbert of Edgar Springs, Mo..; Jerry of Roby; Joe of Richland, Mo.; Mae Hatchitt of Kansas City, Mo.; Rollie of Bucyrus, Mo.; and Elsie, who preceded her in death at the age of six. She had three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Clara Katherine Jones of Houston; Minnie and Maude, who preceded her in death, and John L. Whisler of Cabool, Mo.; two half sisters Mary Cooper of Kansas City, and Lillie , who preceded her in death; four half brothers, Bill Whisler and Charley, who preceded her in death; Albert Whisler of Kansas City, and Harry, address unknown. (Harry went to Pennsylvania).
She was converted at an early age and united with the Plum Valley Baptist Church, later moving her membership to the Houston Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member until the death angel called her home where there will be no more sickness or pain, death or sorrow. She is survived by her eight living children, one sister, one brother, one half-sister, two half brothers, 20 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.. Funeral service was held Sunday at 2:30 p. m., at the Emery Church, conducted by Rev. J, R. Halbrook, with burial in the Emery cemetery under the direction of the Elliott Funeral Home
