Britt Edward Lewis, age 65, a resident of Bronson, Kan., died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas, following a brief illness. He was born June 5, 1943, in Tunkhannock, Pa., the son of Walter E. Lewis and Loretta Mock Lewis. Britt first married Barbara Smith. To this union was born a son, Edward Wayne Lewis. He later married Mary Stewart. Britt and Mary had three children, Lisa, Tina, and Jason. Britt had worked as a side boom operator in the petroleum industry for many years. He was a member of the Operators Union No. 139 and had performed pipeline work throughout North America as well as in Brazil and Indonesia.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Wayne Lewis, Blue Mound, Kan., and Jason Lewis, Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Lisa Tice, LaHarpe, Kan. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Gavin Tice, Dalton Karr, Jarren Lewis, and Jacey Lewis, and a special friend and caregiver, Ann Hashbarger. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Lewis, six brothers, Jack, Robert, Charles, George, Doyle, and Walter Lewis; and by two sisters, Roberta Loy and Margaret Hunt.

Lloyd Houk will conduct funeral services at 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel. Burial will follow in the Bronson Cemetery.
