. Barbara Wilkening, Age 66, of Cedar Lake, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009 at St. Anthony's Hospital, Crown Point.
. Survived by her husband of 43 years, Dennis; 2 sons, Todd (Julie) Wilkening and Dean (Theresa) Wilkening, both of Cedar Lake; 2 grand children, Megan and Jesse; mother, Irene Schubert of Cedar Lake; 2 sisters, Diana Pawlowski of Cedar Lake and Robin.
. Preceded in death by: her father, Walter Schubert; and brother, Richard Schubert. Funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Burdan Funeral Home with Fr. Burt Pepowski officiating. Burial to follow at German Methodist Cemetery in Cedar Lake.
. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday May 3, 2009 from 2 to 7 pm. at the Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Ave., (corner route 41 and 129 Ave, Cedar Lake). Babara is currently the president of the Cedar Lake Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary with a dedicated membership of 36 years. Also a member of the Cedar Lake American Legion Ladies'Auxiliary.
. Barbara will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory to the Cedar Lake Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary would be greatly appreciated.
