Verma Hortense Alexander, age 89, of Jonesboro, formerly of Leachville, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Place Nursing Center in Jonesboro.

Born near Monette, AR, she was the daughter of Arthur and Josephine Barlow Finch and had been a longtime Leachville resident before making her home in Jonesboro in 1971 and had been a resident of St. Elizabeth's Place since 2006.

She was the widow of Mr. Herbert Howell Alexander and was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by:

One son:

Herbert Ray Alexander of Garland, TX

Two daughters:

Nina James of Pine Bluff, AR
Vermalene Smith of Jonesboro

She also leaves 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren,

Funeral services will be 2PM Sunday at Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville Rev. Truman Wycoff officiating.

Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Saturday evening from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
