Funeral services for Sarah Jane Wampler, 94, were held Saturday, March 30, 1991, at 2 p.m. at the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas, Wyo., with Pastor Delbert Dick of the American Missionary Fellowship (AMF) officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Wampler died Wednesday, March 27, 1991, at Michael Manor in Douglas following a short illness.

She was born Aug. 11, 1896, the daughter of Olie and Harriet (Forbes) Edison. She was orphaned at the age of 5, and was raised by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Forbes. She was reared and educated in Stillwater, Okla., and Nebraska. She was married to Roy A. Wampler in Carroll, Iowa, in September 1919. They lived on a farm in Iowa for eight years and then moved to Wyoming. They farmed for nine years in the Walker Creek Community, north of Douglas. They moved into Douglas in 1938 and then in July 1979 she moved to Michael Manor where she resided until the time of her death.

She was baptized in the Methodist church on March 14, 1926, in Iowa. She loved to crochet, cook, and do general house work.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Arlene Eddy and husband, Larry, of Keeline, Wyo. and Fay Edison and wife, Sue, of Shawnee, Wyo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy, on June 19, 1979; two brothers, Alfred Edison and Arthur Edison; and one great niece, Dona Eddy.

Serving as pallbearers were Larry Eddy, Ivan Eddy, John Eddy, Fay Edison, Randall Edison and Ray Forbes.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were her many friends. A memorial to the choice of the donor would be equally appreciated by the family. The Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas were in charge of arrangements.
