•Note: Southwest of the Peter Hitt cemetery, in the direction of the River, is a dilapidated log cabin. Because of its proximity to the cemetery, it is believed that this was the home of Peter and Hannah Hitt. Two professionals examined the cabin and they stated that it is their opinion that the building pre-dates 1850 and could possibly have been build as early as 1800 (Report on the Peter Hitt cabin; Tom Thorpe and Edward Ashby; filed at the Fauquier Heritage Society, P.O. Box 548, Marshall, Virginia.
