Bettie married Laddie F. Janda of Shiner in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Sept. 17, 1951 and they made their home in Mission Valley. After raising six children, she attended Victoria College and became a respiratory care therapist, retiring in 1986. In retirement she was active in the local AARP chapter and enjoyed playing Mexican Train and Chickenfoot with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Laddie; sons, Jim and his wife Mary of Salt Lake City, Steve of Driftwood, and Paul of Victoria; daughters, Kathryn of Lubbock; Nancy and her husband Lee Johnson of Annetta, and Karen of Ennis; granddaughters, Elizabeth of Charlottesville, Va., and Sarah of Palo Alto, Calif.; sister-in-law, Lucille Clarke of Cuero; brother-in-law, Joseph H. Casto and his wife, Lily, of Virginia, special cousin, Dean R. Matson of Houston and his wife Judy; and 10 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Clarke.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at Colonial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Deacon Dick Wearden and the Rev. Mary Sheridan Janda officiating
