GREENBRIER, Mo. -- Velma "Rosalie" Abernathy, 76, of Greenbrier passed away Monday, April 9, 2007, at Advance Nursing Center.

She was born May 1, 1930, at Greenbrier, daughter of Dudley Hugh and Ida Fern Miller McCullough. She and E.W. "Bill" Abernathy were married Dec. 5, 1953, at Greenbrier.

Rosalie attended Greenbrier Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Lannie and Kimberly Abernathy of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Sharon McCullough, Shannon and Karen McCullough, and William "Bill" and Evelyn McCullough, all of Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lyndel and Leon McCullough; four sisters, Geraldine Smith, Beulah Hardesty, Glenda Cameron and Laveda Stepp.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating, assisted by the Rev. James Johns.
