I will never forget the day my mom, brother and I made that long trip to Alabama to get Buffy. My dad told my mom no dogs in the house at all. Needless to say when my dad came home from work that day he saw a box and looked in the box and looked at my mom and asked her "What's this?" My mom being a practical joker looked at him and said "What does it look like? It sure ain't no cat." Buffy became apart of our family that day and we all spoiled her rotten. Buffy was a momma's girl and I'm so glad that they are together now. My mom loved her like her own child. Her mommy joined her in heaven on February 21, 2006.

She was a very loving dog and she hardly every barked. If Chris and I went outside to play she was right behind for she was very protective of us. She loved McDonald's french fries and you dare not try to fool her because she knew the difference. I recall one time when my grandmother had laid her Oreo cookies on the end table in the living room and then went off to another part of the house for just a few minutes and by the time she got back her cookies were gone. It was so funny because when my grandmother looked down Buffy was still eating the last cookie and then looked up at my grandmother and walked off. She loved sitting underneath the christmas tree at christmas time. There was one time she almost knocked it over.

She became ill a few months before she had passed away. She had several blood transfusions, but on the cool December morning she passed away, but not before she gave me one last kiss on my nose. She was known for her kisses. My uncle gave her the nickname "Tongue."

That christmas was different because Buffy wasn't underneath the christmas tree. I'm sure her and Andre are looking down on me and playing with my mom.

A Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my god and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest - and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

A Dog for Jesus
(Where dogs go when they die)

I wish someone had given Jesus a dog.
As loyal and loving as mine.
To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
And adore Him for being divine.

As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog,
Would have followed Him all through the day.
While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.
It is sad to remember that Christ went away.
To face death alone and apart.
With no tender dog following close behind,
To comfort its Master's Heart.
And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn,
How happy He would have been,
As His dog kissed His hand and barked it's delight,
For The One who died for all men.

Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent Him mine,
The old pal so dear to me.
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone,
Knowing they're in eternity.
Day after day, the whole day through,
Wherever my road inclined,
Four feet said, "Wait, I'm coming with you!"
And trotted along behind.
