On March 30, 1912, Alta & Oliver Andrew Bell were married by Justice of Peace, G.F. Lawson. He was 30 years old, & she was 18. Their witnesses were Minnie and Albert Anderson, Alta's sister and brother-in-law.

Alta was the eighth child of Solomon, Jr. and Josephine (Bell) Moffis's 12 children. Josephine was the daughter of Josiah Owens and Jane Bell. Josiah never married Jane, & her children were known as Bells. This line of Bells is in no way related to Oliver or to his father, Henry.

Her siblings were: John, Julia, Minnie, Alzona, Lyde, Alvin, Benjamin, Jack, Newell, Elda, & Elvis.

Alta & Oliver had 13 children: Emmett Fred, Elda, Hurcel, Herbert Hadley, Alvis, Albert M., Larry E., Vera & Violet (twins), Oliver Andrew Jr., Zelma, Frank D., & Doyn Lee.
