Gladys Martha Sanders, daughter of the late James and Anis (Allen) Hurtt, was born on August 17, 1919 in Many Island, Arkansas, and departed this life on November 4, 2005 in Independence, Mo. She was 86 years, 2 months, and 18 days of age.

Gladys was united in marriage to Roy Sanders on September 24, 1938 in Salem, Ark. Three children were born to this union. Gladys and Roy owned and operated a farm near Mountain Grove for many years until Roy's passing in September of 1980. Gladys moved to Mountain Grove shortly after and lived there for several years. When her health started to fail she moved to Blue Springs, Mo., to be near her family.

Gladys was a devout Christian lady who loved attending church. She enjoyed making strawberry pies for her friends at the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. She loved making quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and her husband of 43 years, Roy Sanders, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Nadine Mitchell and her husband Darrell, and Geneva Floyd and her husband Harold, whose homes she shared for the past four years in Blue Springs, Mo.; five grandchildren, Stephen Floyd and his wife Liz, Jim Floyd and his wife Renay, Matt Mitchell, Daniel Mitchell, and Kandi Hayton and her husband Chris; six great grandchildren, Jason Floyd and his wife Michaelyn, Nathaniel Floyd, Gabriel Floyd, Dalton Mitchell, and Cody Mitchell, and Nicole Mitchell; two sisters, Goldie Johnson of Harrison, Ark. and Mabel Davis of Mammoth Springs, Ark.; many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

We celebrate the life of this loving mother and grandmother and will treasure the memory of her forever.
