Hugh Johnson Taylor, age 90, of Heber Springs, passed away April 15, 2009. Hugh was born July 2, 1918 in Little Rock, to the late Hugh R. and Flora Johnson Taylor.
He was a self-employed Building Contractor with Taylor Building Associates until his retirement. He was a former member of Associated Builders and Contractors, and the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. Hugh was also a member of the American Legion Post 0001 MM Eberts of Little Rock and a fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member.
Hugh graduated from Little Rock High School where he was a state high school record holder in the low hurdles. He was a WWII Navy veteran having served in the Pacific Theater as a Navy Seebee. He was a Golden Gloves Boxer.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Mary Eileen Taylor; son, David Michael Taylor of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Tracy Taylor Dietrich of Baldwinsville, N. Y.; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; brother, Marvin R. Taylor of Little Rock; and a sister, Betty J. Turner of Stuart, Fla.
A Mass of Christian burial was held April 18 at St. Albert's Catholic Church, Heber Springs, officiated by Father John Aghakwuo and Deacon Robert Morris. Visitation and Rosary was held April 17 at Heber Springs Funeral Home. Entombment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Conway. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for special caregivers, Sandy Pischke, Dawn Antista and Cleburne County Hospice.
