Bessie Mae Adams, 72, of 293 Greenlawn Ave. died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness.

Mrs. Adams was born March 11, 1937 to the late Clyde Mitchell and Luella Queen Franklin Mitchell Washington in Sawyerville, Alabama and had lived in Mansfield the past 52 years. She was a former employee of Independent Towel Company and the Maxine Shop. Bessie was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she served in the Senior Choir.

Bessie is survived by her husband of 31 years, Clotie; one aunt, Alice Bush of Chicago, IL; six nieces and nephews, Patricia (Kenny) Mitchell-Bailey of Douglasville, GA, Charles Mitchell, Peggy Brooks, and Frank "F.D." Bonham, and Walter L. Bonham all of Mansfield and Donald Feagin of Columbus; numerous great and great great nieces and nephews; three special cousins, Bessie Whitt, Idell House, and Willie "Cool Baby" McCruter; and brother-in-law, Willie Jones, all of Mansfield.

In addition to her parents, Bessie was also preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Mitchell Jones, and Mattie Mitchell.
