Walter was born in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio graduated from East High School there and then attended the University of Alabama. In Muncie, Indiana he was a past president of the Ice Cream Retailers Association.
Walter married Dorothy M.L. Brown(1910 -1992) in Cleveland, Ohio. They moved from Cleveland to Muncie in about 1954. They had three sons together; Edward, William and Michael.
Walter died on Thursday, June 4, at his home in Muncie after a long illness.
He is laid to rest with his wife Dorothy in Elm Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park Cemetery, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana 47304.
