Dr. Derringer died in August 20, 2000. He was entering the Mount Vernon Metro station when he was attacked, robbed, and stabbed once in the chest. The police have no suspects and no one has been charged in this tragic random crime.
Dr. Derringer is survived by his mother, Judy Briggs, Step-father Tony Briggs, 3 brothers, Anthony Derringer, Michael Derringer, and Chris Derringer, several nieces and nephews, and many friends and co-workers, all who loved him dearly.
