Danny Ray Meadows 54, of Gilbert, Arizona, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2002. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on August 10, 1947 to Walter and Florence Meadows. Dan graduated from North High School in 1967, served in the Army and completed a tour of duty in Korea, worked at International Harvester, was a Deputy Sheriff and a member of Northside Baptist Church. Dan and his family moved to Arizona in 1984 where he was employed as a purchasing agent for Desert Schools Federal Credit Union. Dan was an active Christian and a member of Gateway Fellowship Church (SBC) in Gilbert, Arizona. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and visited 47 of the 50 states, including Hawaii and Alaska. They also enjoyed cruises to Mexico and the Caribbean, as well as frequent visits to their daughters and granddaughters. Dan was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hiking, rafting, and especially mountain biking. He could be found riding the trails of South Mountain in Phoenix nearly every weekend. He was taking a rest break from biking the mountains on May 18, when a sudden heart attack claimed his life. He was a much-loved husband, father, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Walter Jr. Dan was very devoted to his family and friends and cared deeply about people, he is desperately missed. Memorial services were held at Gateway Fellowship Church in Gilbert, Arizona.
