MARCUS WALKER
Marcus Walker was born September 12, 1836. He was united in marriage with Martha Matilda Hoskins August 23, 1858, came to Johnson County, Nebraska in 1864 and died on December 1, 1904. The deceased belonged to that galaxy of sturdy pioneers who were identified with events in this section of country during its earliest period of settlement.
On August 23, 1898, Mr. and Mrs. Walker celebrated the fortieth anniversary of their wedding. On February 1, 1899, their union was severed by the death of Mrs. Walker and a few days later two sons, Milton and Charles, aged twenty-four and nineteen years respectively, followed their mother to the other world.
Mr. Walker leaves three daughters and five sons, one sister, five brothers and twenty-three grand children, besides a host of friends to mourn for his death.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. T. Moore at the family home Sunday afternoon at two o'clock. A large throng of people assembled to pay the last tribute of respect to the departed one. Interment was made in the Crab Orchard cemetery.
