Robert E. Riddle, 'Bo Diddle,' age 80, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009.

He was born on July 15, 1928, in Charleston, W.Va., to George W. and Leatha Riddle. Bob served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a technical sergeant. After his military career he was employed at Western Auto as a lawn service mechanic. He later owned the Shell Service Station at the corner of Racetrack Road and Beal Street. Bob was a member of the DAV, Moose Lodge and VFW. He served as Commander of the VFW in Vacaville, Calif. His greatest enjoyment in life was caring for his family and friends.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mitsu Naka Riddle; three sons, Robert E. Riddle of Phoenix, Ariz., Johnnie Lee and his wife Faye Riddle of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and James and his wife Nancy Riddle of Augusta, Ga.; daughter, Mitzi Ann Riddle Toifel of Daphne, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Eli, Casey, Johnnie Leigh, Robert (Rip), Laura, Ryan and Taylor; and four great-grandchildren, Ben, Trevor, Travis and Rebecca. Bob is also survived by his sister, Ann (Riddle) and brother-in-law, Bill Kapp of Lakeland, Fla.; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 27, at 1 p.m. at Beal Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Buck Dockery officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 8 N.E. Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach.
