Daughter of John & Bertha (Ernst) Schweizer.
She attended school in Duncan until the ninth grade when she was needed at home to help with farming. On January 12, 1927, Clara married Rudolph Schacher. They lived and farmed in the Monroe area until moving into Monroe in 1971. Clara's responsibilities as a farmer's wife were numerous, especially without the conveniences of electricity, which came in 1950, and modern plumbing.

Clara was a Sunday School teacher at the Okay Church until they moved closer to Monroe where they joined the Monroe Methodist Church in 1928. She enjoyed sewing, reading, crocheting, and baking and giving away her made from scratch angel food cake. Politics was a special interest of hers, she regularly wrote her Congressman about current issues. Clara was a member of the Okay Ladies Aid and the Friendly Neighbors Extension Club.
