Word has been received by local friends of the death of S. Sgt. W. K. Rafferty Jr., 34, on Dec. 11 at the U.S. Air Force Base at Oxnard where he was stationed. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage.
A Requiem Mass was held with interment in Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno with full military honors.
Rafferty was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Spearfish S. Dak. and was reared in Ventura. He entered the Army when he was 18 and was stationed at a number of overseas bases. He was a frequent visitor in Bakersfield at the home of his sister, Mr. J. O. Pathe, Jr., 18 Montrose St.
Other survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Rafferty of Sacramento, and another sister, Mrs. L. L. Smith of Denver, Colo.
