Hallie Lee Clonts, 92, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Gibbs Care Center. She was born March 22, 1916 in Cherryville, Missouri to Jesse and Iona Lee (Allsman) Clonts.

She will be sadly missed by three sisters, Ina Gladden of Cherryville, MO, Eva Gladden and Faith Dillon and husband Richard all of Washington, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jesse H. Clonts and wife Irene; two sisters, Helen Clonts and Hazel Lowe and husband Frank; two brothers in-law, Jim and Wayne Gladden.

Hallie worked in the USDA Extension Service field educating for the Adult and Youth Leadership Programs. She served as County Home Agent from 1956 to 1972 in Watowan County in St. James, Minnesota. She worked with homemakers conducting workshops while teaching nutrition and sewing.

Education was very important in Hallie's life. As it was her desire to learn and teach others, she acquired her Doctorate degree at the University of Arizona.
She retired from the Kansas City State University as Specialist in the food and nutrition Education Programs.

She considered the "Best years of her life" when she retired and came back home to Steelville to be with her family and friends. She felt honored to serve on the Steelville Cemetery Board and Gibbs Care Center Board. For over twenty years, she altered clothing in her home and always enjoyed the challenge of a "perfect fit". She enjoyed music, reading and walking and was always ready for a good card game with her family.

Hallie accepted the Lord as her Savior and was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Steelville. Her laughter and smile would brighten anyone's day. She will truly be missed.

Funeral services were held on May 3, 2008 at Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "It Is Well With My Soul" and "What A Day That Will Be" were sung by Danny Gladden, Sr. and Danny Gladden, Jr. accompanied by Donna Silvey on piano.

Casketbearers were John Gladden, Joe Gladden, Danny Gladden, Jr., Steve Shofner, Craig Shofner and Hank Epstein. Honorary Casketbearers were Danny Gladden, Sr., Richard Dillon, Bill Coffman and Floyd Reed.
