Lloyd was born to Klaus and Synnove (Blomdahl) Selheim, graduated from Stanhope High school, and studied veterinary medicine at Iowa State University. In 1944, Lloyd was working as a Welder in shipyards of California when he enlisted in the U S Army Air Corps. Lloyd was a member of VFW #501 in Lakewood and American Legion Post #1985 in Firestone and a lifetime member of the Distinguished Flying Cross Society. During World War II, he flew a B-24 Bomber in over 35 combat missions as a member of the 454th Bomb Group and 739th Bomb Squadron. He was a great influence on his 3 sons, 2 nephews and 2 grandsons. His grandsons currently serve in the military. Lloyd married Eleanor Smith on January 11, 1969 in Arvada. He worked in the Food Industry in the Denver area for many years and volunteered at the Crossroads Baptist Church-South Campus for over five years. He also helped drive the family school bus for his grandchildren and was known as "Mr. Fix It" for his children. Lloyd enjoyed baking and making candies and taking care of his wife Ellie. Survivors included: daughters Roberta (Jim) Heintz of Fresno, CA, Sandra (David) Olson of Frederick, and Sara Sacke of Brighton; sons Robert (Shawn) Nikkel of Arvada, John (Judy) Selheim of Castle Rock, Steven Selheim of Castle Rock, and Michael Selheim of Wheatridge; sister Charlotte Long of Solomon's Island, Maryland; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceding were two sisters, a brother, and his wife. Memorial services held April 3 at Crossroads Baptist Church-South Campus. Inurnment at Ft. Logan Stage A. Memorial contributions made to American Cancer Society, 6857 Paiute Ave., Niwot 80503 or Crossroads Baptist Church Building Fund, 10451 Huron St., Northglenn 80234. Tabor-Rice Funeral Home handled arrangements.
