Ellie, born to Edward and Josephine (Wooster) Smith, grew up in old town Maine and attended nursing school in Boston. She married Lloyd Selheim on January 11, 1969 in Arvada. Eleanor had moved to Colorado in 1961 and worked as a volunteer at Ridge State Home Training School. She later worked at a nursing home in Westminster and at Crossroads Baptist Church, where she had been a member since the early '80s, and helped raise six grandchildren. She was an avid ice skater, skier and a member of Colorado Ski Patrol and had been a lifeguard on the coast of Maine. She loved to sing and sang in church choir. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and baking. Surviving beside her husband included: daughters Roberta (Jim) Heintz of Fresno, CA, Sandra (David) Olson of Frederick, and Sara Sacke of Brighton; sons Robert (Shawn) Nikkel of Arvada, John (Judy) Selheim of Castle Rock, Steve Selheim of Englewood, and Michael Selheim of Wheat Ridge; sister Althea Schroeder of Buhler, Kansas; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding were both of her parents. Memorial services held November 9 at Crossroads Baptist Church-South Campus: 10451 Huron St., Northglenn. Tabor-Rice Funeral Home handled arrangements.
