Honree E. Ethridge of Chiefland died Tuesday at his home. He was 83. Mr. Ethridge was born in Chiefland and was a lifelong resident. He was a retired project engineer for the Florida Department of Transportation, where he worked for 34 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the Silver Star and Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Freda Ethridge of Chiefland; daughters Linda Hiers and Pam Holmes, both of Chiefland; sisters Ila Rain of Chiefland and Isabell Johnson of Gainesville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
