Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great- grandfather, George Cottam Miller, age 91, died on February 28, 1990 of natural causes while hospitalized in Salt Lake City, Utah.


Born August 15, 1898 in St. George, Utah to Albert Edwin and Mary Ann Cottam Miller.


He married Catherine Gwennie Matheson on August 11, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 30, 1927.


Graduated from High School in St. George and the University of Utah Law School with an LLB degree. He worked as an FBI agent in the eastern U.S. and as office manager for Roll-A-Way Corporation in Detroit, Michigan.


For many years he was city attorney and county attorney at Beaver, Utah. He served as president of the Utah State County Officers Association from 1946-1947.


He moved to Salt Lake City in 1951 and established the Utah State Financial Responsibility Act and then became Director of the Division of Traffic Licenses for the state. He retired from this position in 1966.


Active in the LDS Church serving as a Branch President, 70's Quorum President, High Councilor, High Priest Group Leader, Temple Worker, and Temple Square guide.


Survived by his wife; three sons and one daughter, William Albert Miller of Lehi, Utah; George Cottam Miller, Jr. of Aberdeen, Washington; David Keith Miller of Salt Lake City; and Mrs. Wendell S. (Gwennie Ann) White serving an LDS Micronesia Mission; 28 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; one brother, Grant Miller of Salt Lake City; and four sisters, Mrs. Edward (Edith) Frei of Santa Clara, Utah; Mrs. Mary Wagner of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Burt (Grace) Twitchell of Enterprise, Utah; and Mrs. Fred (Rosaland) Ingledue of St. George.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 1990 at 12 noon in the Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East South Temple Street, where friends may call on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
