Mrs. Frances Hunter, 78, of Aztec, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 17, 2009. Frances was born Jan. 31, 1931, in Guymon, Okla., to Dock Jiles and Vida Johnson Jiles.
Frances moved to New Mexico in 1979. She attended and graduated from Farmington High School in 1949. She married Clarence Hunter on Sept. 10, 1953, in Las Vegas, Nev. She was employed by Kysar Steel Corporation for 25 years, and then retired.
Frances was a charter member Woodmen of the World Camp 971, a charter member of Cedar Hill Grange No. 1, a member of the La Plata Permona, the Colorado State Grange and the National Grange. She was with the Cedar Hill Fire Department for 22 years, as a firefighter and an E.M.T.
Frances was preceded in death by her mother, Vida Jiles; her father, Dock Jiles; and her son, Larry Hunter.
Frances is survived by her husband, Clarence Hunter; her sister, JoAnn and husband, Harold Prochaska, of Blythe, Calif.; brothers, Charles Jiles and wife, Louise, of Farmington; sister-in-law, Liddie Kacer and husband, Frank, of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Frances will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec.
Services for Frances will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the First Baptist Church in Aztec, 700 Navajo Street in Aztec. The Rev. Kevin Parker will officiate.
Interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery will follow the services.
Pallbearers are Richard Lopez, Jim Cook, Jeff Hensley, Ed Gumpert, Russell Greer, and Danny Greer. Honorary pallbearers are the Cedar Hill Fire Department.
There will be a dinner at the First Baptist Church in Aztec. Those who would like to join us, please do so.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Cedar Hill Fire Department Auxiliary, on C.R. 2343, Aztec, NM 87410.
