A memorial service for Alta L. Abderhalden of McMinnville will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, with the Rev. Kent Harrop officiating. Private interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, McMinnville.
Mrs. Abderhalden died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, in Hillside Manor. She was 94.
She was born on April 16, 1909, in Dayton, Wash., the daughter of Wheaton Earl and Lena Alta Boggs Huntley. Raised and educated in Lapwai, Idaho, she settled in Sheridan at age 13.
On June 11, 1931, she married Henry Abderhalden. He preceded her in death in 1981.
They made their home in Sheridan for 20 years, then moved by turns to St. Paul, the Southern Oregon Coast and Hillsboro. In due course, they returned to the area and settled in McMinnville.
Abderhalden was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. On the side, she kept the books for her husband's logging company.
Survivors include two sons, Frank of St. Paul and H.E. "Abe" of Newport; a daughter, Edith Rich, of Astoria; two brothers, Edward Huntley of Sacramento, Calif., and Glen Huntley of Spanaway, Wash.; a sister, Hattie Nuttbrock of Canby; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Roy, Herold, Alva and Frank Huntley, and by sisters Naomi Rodgers and Wilma Coleman.
Contributions may be made to a memorial fund set up at First Baptist Church.
