Rudy A. Stetner, 77, of Quincy passed away on Monday, September 12, 2005, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee with his family at his side. He was born on November 25, 1927, to Daniel and Lena (Wagner) Stetner at Mabton, Washington.

He attended and graduated from Mabton High School in 1945. He married Shirley Burnside on January 2, 1949, in Sunnyside.

Rudy and his brother Herb owned and operated a service station in Sunnyside from 1949 until 1953, when they moved to Quincy. Rudy and his brother Don owned and operated Stetner Brothers Farm from 1958 until 1992. In 1965, Rudy, Don, Bob and Larry Richardson became owners of Blue Ribbon Produce and seven years ago he started Sunset Vineyards. Rudy was a Quincy Valley Port Commissioner for eight years, was a member of the Washington State Potato Commission for 15 years, was on the Security Bank Board, and was a member of the Quincy Moose Lodge #1925, Quincy Lions and the Ephrata Elks Lodge. He was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Quincy.

Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Stetner of Quincy; children, Ron Stetner of Quincy, Roger Stetner of Boring, OR, Steve Stetner of Ephrata and Karen Ronish of Quincy. He is also survived by six brothers and five sisters, Herb Stetner, John Stetner and Judy Weber all of Quincy, Don Stetner and David Stetner both of Leavenworth, Dan Stetner of Arlington, Ken Ackerman of Yakima, Helen Clasen of Renton, Betty Rose of Bellevue, Laurett Garred of White Salmon, Florence Fickle of Show Low, AZ; fifteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant sons, Randy Allen and Russell Wayne; and sister, Margaret.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 15, 2005, from noon until 7:00 p.m. at Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Chapel in Quincy. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Friday, September 16, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Quincy. Officiating will be Pastor Virginia Johnson. Concluding Services and Interment will follow in the Quincy Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the charity of your choice.
