Glenn Atwood Fagley Sr., 79, of 2893 Hills Creek Road, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at his residence. He had been ill for the past four months.

Born in Elysburg on Aug. 9, 1929, he was a son of the late Russell A. and Mary K. (Leiby) Fagley. He lived in Wellsboro for the past 15 years.

He was a 1947 graduate of Ralpho Township High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and as an instructor for the Army Signal Corps.

On April 26, 1951, in Hagerstown, Md., he married Evelyn Smith Fagley, who died on May 19, 2005.

He worked as an assignment clerk for Bell of Pennsylvania, retiring in 1991 after 36 years.

He was a member of Whitneyville United Methodist Church, a member of the Moose Club,a former bowler, and worked and played baseball for the Danville State Hospital team.

He loved camping, hunting and fishing trips with his family in Canada.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn A. and Carol Fagley Jr. of South Williamsport; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Louise Metzger of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, Neill Fagley and wife, Tanja, of Germany; Brian Fagley at home, Nathan Meredith and wife, Trish, of South Williamsport, and Amy Shuman of South Williamsport; a great-granddaughter, India Rose Bolton, of Lewisburg, and a sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Jean and Harve Goodman, of Mechanicsburg.
