Ellen Elizabeth Southall "Beth" McDermott, 63, departed this life on Thursday, January 18, 2007. Her husband, family and closest friends saw her off.
Born February 26, 1943, she was the eldest daughter of Merle C. and Virginia Garrett Southall, who predeceased her.
A lifelong resident of Charlottesville, Beth graduated from Lane High School and was a 1983 graduate of the College Business Management Institute at the University of Kentucky. Beth dedicated more than 30 years to her friends and colleagues at the University of Virginia and its Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, William F. McDermott, Jr.; her sisters, Susan Montague and her husband, Bobby, and sons, Brooks and Josh Haney, of Raleigh, NC, and Lee Boisseau and her husband, Benjamin, and sons, Matt of Petersburg, VA and Sam of Richmond; and her stepmother, Elizabeth C. Southall of Charlottesville. Other close survivors include, Robin S. Jane and her husband, John Jr., and children, John III and Maddie Nell, of Charlottesville and Dwight S. Short and his wife, Tammy, of O'Fallon, MO.
Family and friends gathered at a visitation from 6pm until 8pm Friday, January 19, 2007, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home and a graveside service 1pm Saturday, January 20, 2007, at Monticello Memory Gardens.
