Staff Sergeant Rueben B. Colbert was a soldier of Company A, 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, participating in the invasion of southern Sicily in July 1943 (operation Husky). D-Day was 10 July 1943. S/Sgt Colbert was killed on 12 July 1943. He was first buried in the small 180th Regimental cemetery # 1 on 13 July 1943. Two weeks later his remains were exhumed and reburied in the temporary American Cemetery GELA in plot-grave E-57-681. Date of burial was 5 August 1943.
After the war his remains were repatriated and buried in a cemetery in the United States.
