Hermina M. Ackerman, 92 of Springfield passed away April 22, 2011 at 8:20 p.m. in St. John's Hospital.

Born October 12, 1918 in Petersburg to Herman and Litta (Johnston) Wilms.

She married Harold Ackerman on April 22, 1944. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Hermina is survived by her four children: Leah Hoxie of Springfield; Robert (Marsha) Ackerman of Alpharetta, GA; Laura (Michael) Robertson of Springfield; William (Leslie) Ackerman of Medina, TN; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson.

Hermina was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Petersburg where she was the organist for many years. She and her family farmed near Athens where she and Harold raised a family and worked on the farm.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Central Presbyterian Church in Petersburg with the Rev. Edward Loper officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Sweetwater.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society .
