Mildred was born to Nina and Herman 'Mike" Bohne on the family farm in 1915. She married Richard Alden on November 10, 1939 in her grandmother's parlor in Francisco, Michigan. After their private wedding dinner at White Castle, they drove to their honeymoon hotel destination in Detroit, a gift from one of her clients at Stillman's, where she was a hairdresser. Together they reared two children, in their home on Cherry Street in Michigan Center. Mildred was a homemaker and later went to work at Russell's as a manicurist. She and Richard moved to their home on Round Lake in 1978 and enjoyed many years as lake dwellers. She loved dancing with her husband at the Ambassador Dance Club, held at the Hotel Hayes and attending festivities at the German-American Club, which she belonged to for many years. Playing golf and attending U of M football games with her husband and friends were also enjoyed. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ for more than 50 years.
