A lifelong resident of Texas County, Alfred E. Bishop. 66, apparently took his own life with a 12-gauge shotgun Saturday afternoon at the home of his brother, Frank, with whom he was living, on Houston's Bado Route, one mile west of Simmons.

Mrs. Frank Bishop heard a shot from the woodshed behind their farm home, and found her brother-in-law dead from a shotgun blast in the chest. Death occurred instantly, according to Texas Count Coroner Jim Gentry, who said Bishop had been despondent over ill health for several months.
