Ted was raised in Portland, graduating from Madison High School in 1958. Following high school, Ted attended Western Business Institute before beginning work for Southern Pacific Railway. He took a job at Tektronix and stayed with the company for 20 years until he began his own catering business called FBC Catering, which served Portland and surrounding areas. Ted retired in 2000. Ted enlisted in the United States Army in 1957, serving in both Vietnam and Korea. Following honorable discharge in 1964, he re-enlisted in the National Guard in 1989. Ted married Marie Fromm in 1982 in Portland. Ted was an avid golfer, lettering in golf all four years of high school as well as volunteering for every Fred Meyer Challenge. He also enjoyed being a chef. He competed and won multiple chili and barbecue championships as Fire Brigade Chili, was the Oregon state chili champion three times, and the Oregon state barbecue champion in 1991. Ted was a member of the American Legion Post 1, the Beaverton Elks and the Gresham Moose. Being a lover of golf, Ted's heart went out to this team, and his wishes are to keep their game alive. Donations can be mailed to: 2440 Lancaster Dr., Salem, OR 97305. Arrangements in the care of Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
