When Deborah Howland was born on January 18, 1884, in Sea Bright, New Jersey, her father, Pvt. Jesse Addison "Squire", was 37 and her mother, Maria, was 34. She married William Vinton Armstrong on August 30, 1900, in her hometown. They had two children during their marriage. She died on May 16, 1961, in Sea Bright, New Jersey, at the age of 77.

SEA BRIGHT -- Mrs. Deborah (Howland) Armstrong, 77, of 14 South Street, died yesterday in Hilltop Nursing Home, Middletown.

Mrs. Armstrong was born in Sea Bright and was the daughter of the late Jesse A. and Maria (McWood) Howland. Her husband was the late William V. Armstrong.

Surviving are a brother, Corlies Howland of Asbury Park; two grandsons, William V. Armstrong of Red Bank and Bruce Goodwin of Rumson, and two great-granddaughters, Miss Diane Armstrong of Red Bank and Miss Julia Goodwin of Rumson.

The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. in St. George's-by-the-River Episcopal Church, Rumson. Rev. Canon George A. Robertshaw will officiate. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery under the direction of John W. Flock Funeral Home, Long Branch.
