Elva Mae Hancock Amburn, age 67, of Wytheville, Virginia, died Monday, September 18, 2000, in the Birdmont Health Care Center. She was born May 24, 1933 in the Spur Branch area of Bland County the daughter of the late Sidney Edward Hancock and Bessie Pearl King Hancock. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Faye Amburn. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Sheila Houchins of Wytheville; Judy and John Jarrells of Goodview, VA; Barbara and Stevie Viars of Max Meadows, Va. Three sons and daughters-in-law: Danny and Terri Amburn of Max Meadows, VA; Jerry and Debbie Amburn of Kannapolis, NC; and Ronnie and Leigh Amburn of Rural Retreat, VA. A sister and brother-in-law: Mary Etta and Ernest Hamblin of Front Royal, VA; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2000, at 3:00 p.m. at the Wytheville Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness's with Brother Ross Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery. The body will be taken to the Wytheville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness's one hour before service time. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Wytheville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness's.
