HEFLIN — Funeral services for Katie Ruth Dean Cavender, 77, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pinetucky Baptist Church with the Reverends Billy Morris and Eugene Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at Dryden Funeral Home, Heflin. Mrs. Cavender died Monday evening at Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

Survivors include three children, Jimmy H. Cavender (Debra), of Heflin, Kathy Harvey (Gary), of Ohatchee, and Phyllis Crosson (Larry), of Heflin; a sister, Sarah Jennings, of Camp Hill; grandchildren, Robin Rupprecht (Clint), of Pensacola, Kevin H. Cavender, of Heflin, Whitney Williamson, of Alexandria, Jeffrey Henson and Will Henson, of Heflin, Meredith Crosson, of Anniston, Catherine McCluer (John), of Birmingham, Elizabeth Hernandez, of Madison; great-grandchildren, Shannon and Clinton Rupprecht, Caitlin and John McCluer Jr. and Lindsey and Emma Pointer. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and two special friends and caregivers, Geraldine Swafford and Jean Williamson. Mrs. Cavender was preceded in death by her husband, J. Harold Cavender; two sisters, Willie Mae Hanvey and Dorothy Nell Daniels, and her parents, Jason and Cora Dean.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy H. Cavender, Kevin H. Cavender, Bobby Cavender, Joe Cavender, Steven Cavender, Gary Hanvey and Howard Hanvey. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey and Will Henson. Mrs. Cavender was a life long resident of Cleburne County. She retired from Lamar Manufacturing and was a loving and Godly mother and grandmother.
