Ophelia Virginia Epps died at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital, Richmond, VA. She attended and graduated from Amelia County (VA) public schools. At an early age Ophelia gave her life to Christ and was baptized at the Promise Land Baptist Church, Amelia County, VA under the leadership of the late Reverend Isaiah Wilkerson. Until her health failed, she was a dedicated member for over 75 years. Ophelia served as assistant clerk of the Church for several years, she was a Member and Secretary of the Senior Choir over 40 years, Secretary for the Missionary Circle for over 45 years and the oldest Mother of the Church. It was on August 14, 1941 that Ophelia united in holy matrimony with George I. Epps.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Promise Land Baptist Church, Amelia County, VA. Interment in the church cemetery.
