He was born July 19, 1930, in Guernsey County, to the late Dewey and Anna (Wilson) Emler.
Mr. Emler was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School and retired from work at Simonds Industries of Newcomestown in 1991.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from March 7, 1951, to March 12, 1953, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3303 and American Legion - Thomas C. Montgomery 431.
Mr. Emler is survived by two daughters, Victoria Hammersley of Newcomerstown and Lisa Emler of Toledo; two granddaughters, Cassandra Hammersley and Sieria Hammersley; one great-grandson, Thomas Hammersley; three brothers, Gerald (Violet) Emler of Wooster, Earl (Betty) Emler of Wooster, and James (Shirley) Emler of Gnadenhutten; one brother-in-law, Gene Murphy of Newcomerstown; and two companions, Fairlane and Billy.
In addition to his parents and wife Betty "Hunnell" Emler on July 8, 1986, he was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Emler; one sister, Doris Emler Murphy; and one brother, Robert Emler.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.
