Marie D. Taylor, 101 of Kirksville passed away Wednesday (March 18, 2009) at Kirksville Manor Care.
The daughter of George W. and Bessie May (Novinger) Walters, she was born in Stahl, Missouri.
Marie is survived by her son, Bill Taylor and wife Renaldo of Onybee, NV; five grandchildren, Bill Taylor Jr, Anna Taylor, Aaron Ralston, David Walters and Shawna; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Walters and wife Marilee of Wichita, KS; son-in-law, Otho Jr. Ralston of St Louis, MO and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Barbara Ralston, grandson, Rick Ralston and two brothers, Francis and Ralph Walters.
Marie was raised in the Stahl area, attended rural schools and attended the Chillicothe Business College. For several years she lived on a farm near LaPlata. She moved to Novinger in 1969 and worked for M.F.A. in Novinger. She then was a bookkeeper for the Pontiac Dealer in Kirksville for many years.
She was a devoted member of the Novinger Baptist Church. She and cousin, Ruth Ellis, traveled in the southern and western states with her brother, Francis. She will be missed by all of her relatives and Manor Care friends, who she loved dearly. She has recently been under hospice care and has made many new friends who have cared for her comfort.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (March 21, 2009) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Carrol Davenport officiating. Music will be provided by the Dianthe Cable organist and Twila Jones soloist, selections will be "In The Garden" and "God Will Take Care of You". Burial will be in McGrew Cemetery north of Novinger, MO.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Ralston, Otho Jr. Ralston, Carroll Hills, Donald Casey and Jason Redmon.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Avenue. (Highway 6 East), Kirksville, MO.
Memorials to Hospice of Northeast Missouri or the Activity Dept. at Kirksville Manor and can be sent to the funeral home.
