Laura C. Hilbers-Ahlers
Laura Catherina Hilbers-Ahlers, 91, of Yuba City died April 1, 2002, at SunBridge Care Center in Yuba City. Born in Scribner, Neb., she was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 55 years. She was a homemaker and also worked as manager in the Franklin School cafeteria for 10 years. She was a member of the Yuba City First Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women Missionary League, and served as a leader of Franklin 4-H Club. She was also a member of the Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau. Survivors include two daughters, Nadene Haynes of Yuba City and Joan Hancock of Gridley; three sons, Wayne Ahlers of Yuba City, Rallin Ahlers of Sutter and Loren Ahlers of Alaska; a brother; LeRoy Hilbers of Yuba City; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil C. Ahlers; a son, Dale F. Ahlers; three sisters, Gladys Lahmann, Elda Davey and Doris Procsal; and a brother, Edgar Hilbers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Yuba City First Lutheran Church, 850 Cooper Ave., Yuba City, CA 95991. Services: Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Murray Elrod officiating. Burial will follow in Sutter Cemetery.
