Charles Wayne Copes, age 69, of Criswell Road, Berry, Kentucky, died Saturday, May 20, 2006. Born in Harrison County, April 17, 1937, to the late Ora Thomas and Verna Worrell Copes, he was a retired rural mail carrier and farmer. He was an Army veteran, attended Elmarch United Methodist Church and was a member of the Draft Horse Association and American Legion.

He is survived by: his wife, Ann Ebie Copes; a son, Colin (Erin) Copes, of Alexandria; a daughter, Cara (Eric) Herrmann, of Crittenden; a brother, Bradley (Diane) Copes, of Cynthiana; eight sisters, Dorothy Syra, of Bowling Green, Iola (Robert) Hail, of Miamisburg, Ohio, Wanda (Harold) Jones, of Barbourville, Fernita "Sug" Varner, of Cynthiana, Ruby (James) Sudduth and Ruth (William) Kendall, both of Frankfort, and Virginia Copes and Sherry Copes, both of Berry; three grandchildren, Madison Copes, Tristan Copes and Ava Herrmann; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ware Funeral Home by Reverend Carol Whiting and Reverend Charles Williams. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Pythian Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Kentucky United Methodist Home, P.O. Box 749, Versailles, Kentucky 40383; or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
