Pauline L. "Polly" Girvin, 76, of 19 W. Main St., Leola, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 19, 2009. She was under a doctor's care.
Born in New Holland, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe and May Irene Bingham Russell. Her husband, John N. Girvin died in 2002. Polly enjoyed golf, bowling and spending time with her family. A former member of the Conestoga Country Club, she bowled in leagues at Rocky Springs and Leisure Lanes. She worked as a florist for Girvin's Flowers at Lancaster, Manor Shopping Ctr., and Leola.
Surviving are: three daughters, Valeria married to Calvin Keene of Quarryville, Melody L. married to Joe Librandi of York, Sharon L. Johns of Leola; one son, Lester "Butch" Johns Jr., married to Elizabeth of Lancaster; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert H. married to Mary Louise Russell of New Holland.
She was preceded in death by: one great-grandson; three sisters, Dorothy Slaymaker, May Carpenter, Alta Woerner; three brothers, Harry, Roscoe and Joseph Russell.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Mar. 23, 2009 at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola. Friends will be received 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow in Longenecker's Reformed Mennonite Cemetery.
