John was born December 24, 1928 to Howard E. Ahlf and Caroline Barton Ahlf in Inglewood, California.
On March 12, 1955, John married Marjorie Gunnison. John and Marjorie had three children, Debra Reams (Joe), Nicholas Ahlf (Joan) and Bart Ahlf (Joyce).
John was a "Rocket Scientist," John helped develop the guidance system of the Minuteman Missle at Aerojet General Corp. in Sacramento California. At Morton Thiokol, John worked on the shuttle system. Joyn retired from Morton international- Automotive Safety Products as Manager of Design Engineering. While at Morton John developed and patented the steering wheel inflator for the automobile air bag.
John is survived by his loving wife and children; his sister Doris Forrest (Bill) and his grandchildern Caroline Reams Wright (Cory), Clay and David Ahlf.
John is preceded in death by his parents, brother Barton Ahlf and grandson Brian Reams.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 18,2008, at Colonial Funeral Home in Pocatello. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the memorial service
